We thank you today, on National Philanthropy Day, and every day, for being champions in our region.

Today is National Philanthropy Day, a day to celebrate the extraordinary impact that philanthropy has had in our world. It is a day that celebrates the charitable work that makes a difference and creates change in communities.

Right here in our own community, you are changing lives.

Some examples of how your gifts will impact our region:

*** The $21.84 donation in memory of Reagan Murphy, a 10-year old golden retriever. Reagan’s pet-parents had already started Christmas shopping for Reagan when they lost her. The donation was the amount of the returned items. This gift was put towards our Animal-Assisted Therapy fund, ensuring pets remain our partners in care.

*** ARTcetera 2019 raised an incredible $302,000 after expenses! These funds will go directly towards moving Polinsky Medical Rehabilitation Center to the Miller Hill Health Plaza in the Miller Hill Mall.

Everyone who attended the event, donated an item to the live or silent auction, worked with us as a vendor, or provided underwriting support – it’s all because of you.

*** Charitable contributions from individuals, local businesses like National Bank of Commerce and grants from Otto Bremer Trust have helped create a healing mental health space with an Adult Partial Hospitalization Program in Superior, WI.

*** The 14th Annual Minnesota Rural Electric Association (MREA) Burn Center Golf Tournament donated nearly $15,000 to the Miller-Dwan Foundation for burn services. The total amount includes a $2,500 matching gift provided by CoBank’s sharing success program.

These funds are used to provide state-of-the-art equipment and critical care nursing training making the Dwan Burn Center one of our most highly-certified multidisciplinary critical care departments in our region.

*** When shopping at area Super One Foods stores during National Hospice Month, community members can purchase $1 paper ornaments, with proceeds benefiting Solvay Hospice House. This partnership brought in over $20,000 in donations in 2018!

*** Everyone who ran the John Galo 5k, held June 10, 2019 in Lester Park. All proceeds from the event were donated to Amberwing, in memory of our friend John, who continues to make a difference in our community.

These are just a few of the incredible ways philanthropy has touched our community. Each gift, no matter how large or small, that is given to the Miller-Dwan Foundation goes right back into our healthcare community, helping make you, your family and your loved ones live your very best and healthiest life.

We thank you today, on National Philanthropy Day, and every day, for being champions in our region.
