Where children, adolescents and families experience the best possible short-term intensive mental health care available.
Amberwing – Center for Youth & Family Well-Being was created and is owned by the Miller-Dwan Foundation. It brings together the combined resources of community philanthropy and the very best compassionate, skilled care to shape a national model of effective mental health care. It prioritizes innovative models of care that seek to understand the root causes of mental health issues and provide services that intentionally build resilience and healing. Â
Set in a restful wooded area, Amberwing provides the greatest level of compassion and skill in the most welcoming of healing environments. It is in this safe and comforting place that every child and adolescent it serves can learn the lifelong skills needed to heal.Â
A gift to the Miller-Dwan Foundation, designated to Amberwing, transforms lives by guaranteeing that everyone it serves will have the resources and tools they need on their journey to recovery. Your gift will:
Restore balance through music, art, movement, pet and occupational therapies. Music can be a child’s voice. A dog can lend an ear. Anger and fear can be expressed and soothed through art. These special therapies are integrated into the bigger care approach for individual and family healing and growth.
Reach out to families through the Amberwing Family Resource Center. A dynamic hub created in response to an overwhelming request from families for information, support and education. The Resource Center is free and open to everyone throughout the region. It offers access to program staff who work with families to help find the resources they need.
Preserve a healing environment. Designed for holistic interaction and learning, Amberwing is part clinic, part hospital and completely unlike either one. This national model of mental health and substance use healing is a safe haven that must be maintained.
