ARTcetera: We are all in this together.

The Miller-Dwan Foundation hosts a variety of events throughout the year, the largest being our annual gala, ARTcetera.

ARTcetera is our region’s longest standing gala of its kind and it brings together, on average, 250 like-minded community members, ready to raise funds for essential healthcare services in our community. Just last year, we went off our usual course and held the event in the raw space at the Miller Hill Health Plaza (former Younkers Department Store). More than300 people attended, and we raised over $302,000 to expand and enhance the Polinsky Medical Rehabilitation Center. With the help of ARTcetera and our supporters, Polinsky will be a highly-specialized, advanced-care healing space in a new location. It will reflect the center’s national recognition and nurture its ability to continue impacting lives in vitally needed ways.

Other years, through ARTcetera we have raised funds for the essential services such as the compassionate end-of-life care at Solvay Hospice House, mental health care at Amberwing – Center for Youth & Family Well-Being, cancer care at the Caring Ways Cancer Resource Center. ARTcetra also created the Abilities First Fund, a fund designed to support individual assistive technology needs for people with disabilities.

At the event, we hold a live and silent auction, including trips, once-in-a-lifetime experiences, private dinners and so much more. We rely on businesses and donors for most of the items – the generosity of our supporters is absolutely astounding. They donate routinely and they give big. And now more than ever, it is important to remember them, use their services and be there to support them as they have us for so many years.

There are so many ways to help: Get takeout at your favorite restaurant or purchase gift cards to use at a later date. Many of the breweries in town offer beer delivery or growler and crowler pick-up. Buy the new OMC Smokehouse cookbook. Order up the online version of the Duluth News Tribune. Take part in the Virtual Cinema with Zeitgeist. Shop online for the latest at Frost River or Atelier & Stone. Book an after-quarantine photo shoot with FitzPhoto. The options are endless, and the time is now.
