The Miller-Dwan Foundation supports the historical specialty care areas of the former Miller-Dwan Medical Center. So we take care of the burn, wound and pain care departments, radiation oncology, surgical services that happen in the Miller-Dwan Building as well as mental health and physical rehabilitation care including Polinsky. What I mean by take care of is that we make grants and we fundraise for those departments. So, for example, recently when a piece of equipment in the rehabilitation department began to fail and was no longer repairable, we provided $103,000 to purchase a replacement. That might sound like a lot of money, but it’s a small price to pay to help our regional patients. Without that piece of equipment, our patients would need to travel to the Twin Cities for care. And that’s not just from Duluth, that’s from International Falls, Ely and far beyond our city limits. We are committed to making sure our patients get the best care possible right here in our own back yards.
That’s why your support is so important, and that’s why we’re so grateful for your help. For every dollar you contribute, you help us meet that goal. A contribution to the Miller-Dwan Foundation employee campaign to whichever department you feel most passionate about, can be requested right back to that department to provide optimum patient care. It’s like a saving account for your department. So by giving, you are benefiting your patients and your co-workers when they need it most. It’s the kind of giving you can feel really good about.
If you haven’t already signed up for payroll deduction to contribute to the employee campaign, it’s never too late. Just click here. And of course you can contribute any amount any time of the year.
We chose the gingko leaf as a symbol of this year’s employee campaign because it represents longevity, hope and reflects in the minds of the Miller-Dwan Foundation, the level of care provided by you, our co-workers. We feel so very lucky to work with you. You are a magnificent part of our family.
